Chat to a Champ
Primary school students can chat with their Olympian heroes using web video conferencing each school term and during the Olympic Games. The AOC also utilises the 'Chat to a Champ' program to connect with Indigenous communities, like our chat with Joel above.
In the lead up to the 2016 Olympic Games, 50 primary schools across the country will be linked with athletes, so as to follow their training, qualification and then competition at the Games.
Pre Games, in Terms 1 and 2 in 2016, primary school students will be able follow their athlete online; reading their blogs, looking at personal images and videos, following competition performances and chatting in web video conferences.
Then during the Games, in Term 3 2016, primary school students will have an exclusive 30 minute chat with their athlete, live from the Olympic Village in Rio, Brazil.
Not only can primary schools participate in this program, but other schools around Australia can tune in to this live broadcast and watch the chat in real time
