Chat to a Champ
Primary school students can chat with their Olympian heroes using web video conferencing each school term and during the Olympic Games. The AOC also utilises the 'Chat to a Champ' program to connect with Australian and Indigenous communities around the country.
In the lead up to the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, 30 primary schools across the country were linked with athletes, so as to follow their training, qualification and then competition at the Games.
Pre Games, in Terms 3 and 4 in 2017, these primary school students followed their athlete online; reading their blogs, looking at personal images and videos, following competition performances and chatting in web video conferences.
Then during the Games, in Term 1 2018, primary school students had have an exclusive 30 minute chat with their athlete, live from the Olympic Village in PyeongChang, South Korea.
Not only can primary schools participate in this program, but other schools around Australia can tune in to this live broadcast and watch the chat in real time
